We're Married!

Last Saturday, April 25th, we got married! It was not spontaneous, but we did not have a formal engagement. Last summer we decided to get married in April, on our tenth anniversary. We planned and booked everything through the fall and at Christmastime we told each of our families when everyone was together and home for the holiday.
We did not tell many people outside of the 28 guests invited (over half of them being our immediate family) so it came as a big surprise to most people this week!

The ceremony was at the Regina Floral Conservatory, a beautiful indoor garden that is open to the public daily from 1 - 4:30pm September - June. The ceremony started at 4:30 so it was closed to the public during the wedding. It was a rainy, overcast day, which was nice because the conservatory is a bit humid but it wasn't unbearable on Saturday.
We had a marriage commisioner officiate the simple civil ceremony. It was very emotional and special. We exchanged the legal vows as well as vows we wrote for each other, and we exchanged rings that we had made at Fire and Ice Custom Jewellery in Regina. Most people (including me) were crying, which I think is a sign of a good wedding.

I wore a dress I bought online, and bright blue flats that I already owned. I did my own hair and makeup. He wore an awesome suit. Everybody looked so beautiful and it was so great to have my favorite people all in the same place, and in a room full of flowers and plants. I was so happy.
After the ceremony, we took photos with everyone. We did not hire a professional photographer, we just had members of our family take photos with their own cameras. The photos turned out great and were a great way to share the day with people who weren't there, and will be a great way to look back and relive the day in years to come.

We celebrated that night with a reception dinner at the Hotel Saskatchewan. The food and service were amazing and everyone had a great night.

It was a very special day and we couldn't be happier with how everything went.

We're married!
