Birds, Blooms, & BBQs

Spring might be postponed indefinitely. We finally had some rain yesterday to turn things green and it is supposed to start warming up soon but at this point we should just call it summer. In any case, here are some spring-y photos from the last week or so.

There is a robin's nest in one of the trees in our yard and big fat momma robin sits there all day long.

bird on a wire in the backyard.

My little gnome uncovered from all the leaves.

We got a new BBQ the weekend before last and tried it out for the first time last week.

I filled the hummingbird feeder and put it out, even though it's still way too cold for them to come.

I made a pot of tea yesterday and spent the rainy day on the couch watching Netflix guilt-free.

Saw this creepy bird worm-hunting after the rain yesterday.

Because it's not yet spring outside we got flowers for the kitchen.

Lilies are my favourite!

Stephen's family came out for a BBQ on Sunday and his mom brought us this hanging plant to brighten up the yard. Hopefully there will be more flowers out soon!

Moving On - original song

I wrote this song the other day. It's about moving on from a bad situation, whether it be a relationship or a job or a place or whatever, and feeling stupid for staying so long when it was bad and kind of saying screw you to whatever you're leaving behind.
 Lyrics after the jump.

Easter Break 2014 - Part 5: Banff (Sushi House, Banff Sweet Shoppe)

On Wednesday night (our last night in Banff) we went for sushi to Sushi House. It was delicious.
After supper, we walked around downtown a bit more and went into the Banff Sweet Shoppe.
We ended up each getting a homemade chocolate bar. Stephen's was dark chocolate with almonds and mine was milk chocolate with oreos. We enjoyed them more than we would have enjoyed fudge. We also got a bag of jelly bellies to share.
The only wildlife we saw on our entire trip were these deer eating the grass in town.
Lots of tourists (including us) stopped to take pictures.

That night we went back to our hotel to enjoy the spa some more and relax in our room.
This was the view from our hotel window on Thursday morning right before we left.
Mt Rundle looked beautiful as we drove away from Banff.

It was a great trip! We had the perfect combination of shopping, touring, visitting with friends, and relaxing on our own.
Check out the other parts of our trip here:
